Discussing how a brand will appeal to it’s audience in a first impression is one of the first steps of my design process with my clients, so I wanted to share a few tips to help and give you something to think about.
First and most importantly… make a coffee, get out your pen and paper, call in your business partner or partners and brainstorm a list of key words and qualities your business reflects. Write down as many as you can and then refine them to your three most important words or phrases reflecting your business. These words or phrases are essential as a designer because your end brand will need to reflect them in a single glance.
These words also play a large part in the colour psychology of your brand, throughout your logo, packaging and website. Each colour reflects its own unique qualities which is then reflected in your brand. Blue reflects trust, progress, freedom and medicine while green reflects qualities such as organic, profit, earthy and environmental.
Developing your brand can seem like a daunting task, but its fun process (for me), it creates clarity around who you are and who your target audience is, this in turn gives you direction.
Whether you are starting your business or beginning to refresh your existing brand, I have designed a free download which breaks down colours and the relationship with your key words so you can have this as a guide with you when thinking about your business and your audience.
